Frederick E. Blair, Sr.
1933 – 2019
Frederick E. Blair, Sr., 84 of Ashland, passed away Thursday February 28, 2019 at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton, OH, his family at his side.
Mr. Blair was born January 6, 1933 in Boyd County, KY to the late Homer and Mary Zornes Blair. He was a graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School, served his country honorably in the US Army and retired in 1995 from WESCO as a salesman. Frederick was a member of Hampton Lodge, Boy Scout Leader, Boyd County Band President, Founding Member of Cannonsburg Fire Department in 1965, and was a Fire Marshall in the Army while stationed in Alaska. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. Frederick was a member the of United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Craft Blair, children, Cynthia Lee Blair of Ashland, David Arthur Blair (Carla Johnson) of Winchester, KY, and Frederick Earl Blair of Ashland. Also surviving are grandchildren, Shauna Blair Nicholson (Ike), Joseph Blair (Janel), Katie Blair, Nathan Blair, Cindy Barnett, and Christopher Barnett, great grandchildren, Launa Blair, Maci Blair, Graeme Blair, Amelia Blair, Obadiah Blair, Lazarus Blair, Bobbie Blair, Christine Blair, Isaac Nicholson, Analeise Nicholson, Elenore Nicholson. Brother, Homer Blair of Monet, MO, sister, Treva Stapleton of Ashland, KY, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, twin sons, Joseph and Jeffery Blair, great granddaughter, Gracie Nicholson, brother, Edward Blair, father and mother in-law, Warren Craft and Helen Damron Clay, and brother in-law, Arthur Craft.
Funeral Service for Mr. Blair will be at 1:00pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home, 2702 Panola Street, Catlettsburg, with Masonic services at 11:30am. Pastor Charles Allen will officiate. Final resting place in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Military honors by Post 93 and the US Army. Visiting hours are 11:00am until Service Time Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
